YES it is safe to visit the hygienist.
The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has affected all our lives in various ways, and we have all had to make changes.
We understand that some patients may have concerns returning to see the dentist and hygiene team amid the pandemic. We understand however can assure you there is no need to worry.
Keeping you safe
We have been experts in infection control for decades, the dentist really is a good place to be.
Both the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) say that there have been no confirmed cases of Covid-19 transmitted in dental practices.
It is our obligation as professionals to use effective protection protocols to keep our patients safe from any infection.
Interrupting your treatment may seriously affect your health.
If you have been referred by your dentist to see the hygienist, and you have not seen them recently, you should book an appointment. As periodontitis is a silent disease and it is likely to be progressing without you even being aware. It silently destroys the tooth-supporting tissue around teeth•.
YES it is safe to visit the hygienist, but there is some changes to your appointment.
Hand-scaling only:Throughout this period, we will be hand scaling rather than the use of ultrasonic machines to limit unnecessary aerosols.
Will my teeth be as clean as usual? Yes! Hand-scaling is as effective, if not more, than ultrasonic scaling in preventing and treating gum disease. It just takes more time.
We can still provide you with a polish: Which will give you a nice bright smile.
Full 30-minute appointment: Hand scaling does take a little longer however it’s less noisy, and for some patients, more relaxing!
The cost of your hygienist appointment is just £61.00, which includes all required PPE
Remember, dentistry is not expensive – neglect is!
Don’t avoid your regular hygiene appointment as it could lead to damaging the tooth-supporting tissues and tooth loss.
